Preparing for life after graduation…

Every college students gets to a point in their college career when they can’t wait to graduate.  The best part about graduating is you don’t have to worry about exams or homework anymore.

I will be graduating this May with a degree in agricultural communications with a minor in entrepreneurship, and I feel very lucky to have a job already for after graduation.  And as I start to think about how close graduation is, I feel a lot of mixed emotions.

I am very excited to graduate but I am nervous about what that means about entering the “real world.” When you enter into the “real world” it means that you have to pay bills, you have to act like an adult, and time to start paying back student loans.

A lot of times I feel like a child at heart, because I enjoy laughing and enjoy what life has to offer. The thought of having to act more like an adult kind of scares me, because I’m not completely sure what that means I need to change.  Do I need to be more serious? Do I need to buy a house? Did I pick a major that will help me in my job? This is what I am trying to figure out.

I have been talking to my mentors a lot to learn from them about the best ways to prepare for life after graduation. They have helped me create a list of steps that I can take to get ready, as I start a new chapter in my life. I will be moving soon, so currently I am focusing on working towards finding housing. This has not been an easy task and if I did not break down task into order of importance, I think it would have been a lot harder. I will be touring places soon, and I’m excited think of possible ways to decorate my new home!

My blog is about my journey to preparing for the transition from college to the professional world and all the trials and tribulations that come with being a college student during this time. I hope you will join me as I share my story with you.
